Movie Review of Stigmata Im not a big movie watcher, in fact when I watch a movie, I rarely finish it. However, there are just a few that Ive got to see. These usually include comedy, but more often mystery. About two years ago I saw a preview for the movie Stigmata. Before the previews I had never heard of stigmata, and even after this didnt know what it was. My cousin explained what stigmata were to me, and then I wanted to see the movie. Stigmata are defined as the plural of stigma; marks resembling the wounds of the crucified body of Christ, said to be supernaturally impressed on the bodies of cetain persons, especially nuns, tertiaries, and monastics (Ask.com), this making a stigmatic one who receives these stigmata. The†¦show more content†¦Probably nintey percent of the sites, that the search came up with, were useless, but by evaluating the titles and descriptions, I avoided wasting time with sites that I knew would be any help. Unfortunatly, there were some sites that I misinterpreted, n early half of the ones I visited. There were many sites that had the exact same information under different titles. There were even a few that were described as stigmata defined, and were literaly the definition of stigmata but nothing more. When searching I used two different searches occurences of stigmata, and stigmata. When I used occurences of stigmata the majority of the sites had nothing at all to do with stigmata. Many of them were about other paranormal activities. When I used stigmata in the search nearly nintey five percent of the sites were about the movie Stigmata. It was a little frustrating having to sort through all the useless sites to find the information that I could use. What I learned: The first documented case of stigmata didnt surface until the thirteenth century, but it is uncertain if stigmata is psychosmatic or if it is Divine Intervention, and the authenticity of many cases of stigmata are questioned. Often groups seek to achieve a cohesive relationship in an effort to unite the team towards its goals. Group members can make the mistake of subverting conflict in an attempt to maintain this team unity. Conflict serves a valuable role in effective group interactions that must be understood by participants of a team. Conflict’s creative function comes from the necessity of varying perspectives to reach a consensus. Indeed, â€Å"teams tend to make higher quality decisions when dissent exists about the wisest course of action† (Sidle, Ï .75). Dissent and conflict forces team members to think outside of the normal realm of experience and knowledge to realize a collaborative solution. Resolution Systems In order to reach a collaborative solution, a team must work to resolve conflict in a productive manner. Avoidance is one resolution strategy many teams use. Avoidance is not a valid resolution strategy in most instances though. Avoidance sweeps conflict aside in order for the team to pursue more productive avenues. â€Å"If the conflict is not central to the work of the team, it may be best to set it aside so that the important work of the team can proceed† (Porter, Ï .3). Only under these circumstances should avoidance be used. Another technique, compromise, is similar to avoidance. Compromise is when â€Å"each person gives up something for the sake of agreement† (Porter, Ï .4). After you have your goals set in mind you will need to get motivated. In order for you get motivated you should break down your goals into smaller goals, so they seem more manageable and less stressful. Everyone encounters stress, but not everyone handles it the same. They may not interpret things the same and not everyone has the same skill set when it comes to dealing with stress. Some people get psychological help to handle their stress, but there are a few techniques you can use to help, other than getting medication. First, RELAX! Take deep breaths and use a tense and relax technique to get the blood in your body circulating. College work is going to be nothing like any previous school work you have ever had. The techniques you have been taught the past years are not nything like the techniques you are going need in college. In high school you could be dozing off during a lecture when you are supposed to be taking notes and still be able to pass the test with flying colors, not in college! Ninety percent of all your information you are going to learn in college will come from lectures and the notes you will be taking. Taking notes   when wanting to pass college. Taking good notes can also help you identify what your professor think s is important which I most likely what will be on the test. Good notes are organized, have examples noted, you can distinguish the main points and details, and you have things underlined/highlighted. To keep things organized you should, use bullets, use abbreviations, use spaces between different ideas, have neatness and write down definitions PERCISLY!! Other tips are to sit in front of you class so that you can see everything. Paraphrase; there is no way you are going to be able to write down every word your professor says. The most important tip is to listen, think, and then write. Make sure you understand what you are writing down. There are four types of methods of taking notes; parallel notes, discussion columns, the T-method and split page also known as the Cornel Method. The Cornel Method is used most by student because it is the easiest and most efficient way of note taking. With the Cornel Method you divide your paper with a line that creates a two to three inch margin. On the left side you put your major points and on the right you put the details that supports those points. Note taking is very important in college, so make note taking a sixth sense. In order to have a social life, learn time management. For you to get through college without a mental break down, you need to learn to handle stress. In able to pass college you need to learn how to take college level notes. There are a lot of changes and adjustment you will need to learn going into college, Learning Frameworks helped me realize how important the skills are that I need to successfully get though college.
